It is inevitable that your iPhone 4 will get dropped, bumped, scratched and potentially damaged. A recent study done by Square Trade showed that iPhone 4 customers are breaking their screens 82% more than iPhone 3Gs customers. The Apple iPhone is a somewhat expensive investment, so protecting it is quite important. Here are a few things you will need; a buyers guide, how to fashionably protect your iPhone.
The front screen of an iPhone is made of glass and is rather large. Although it is quite durable, it’s still glass and it can still get scratched. If you are not careful, and simply toss the phone into your purse with car keys and other sharp objects, the screen is certain to be scratched in no time.
A screen protector is a very thin layer of plastic that adheres to the display. These are surprisingly easy to install and you won’t even notice that it is there.
Protective iPhone 4 Cases
For most people, a cell phone is always close by. That is why it is important that it should be well protected and yet stylish at the same time. There are a lot of great iPhone 4 cases that can match your mood, personality and outfit. Because of this, there is no harm in getting several different ones.
It is simply a matter of personal taste and choosing the model that will protect the phone the best and match your unique personality. An iPhone 4 case should reflect this. There is such a wide variety when it comes to protective fashion cases, that you are sure to find the one that is perfect. Whether it is a solid color case, one with an interesting print or design or even a case with sparkling embellishments, the right one is out there.
However, you may want to consider your environment. If your iPhone 4 gets bumped around quite a bit, you will want to pick out something that is designed to handle a more rigorous lifestyle.
For instance, you may want to look into getting an impact or water resistance case. These cases typically give you the most protection in all the weak areas of the phone design. Most phones are being made with more and more glass and with the design of phones getting thinner and thinner, the material that used to cover the glass corners and sides are slowly becoming a thing of the past. These are some of our favorite cases to protect your phone from impact.
Once you have the case case picked out, is important to hold onto your iPhone and not let it get lost or stolen. In the horrible event of this occurrence, there are several apps that can be of help.
Apple’s Find My iPhone is a free product for MobileMe users that will assist you if the unfortunate happens. Once you install the app, you will be able to access it remotely. This can either be done online or by installing the app on a friend’s phone. At this point, the location of the phone can be seen, it can be locked, a message can be displayed on the screen and it can even be remotely wiped if it is thought to be in the wrong hands or stolen.
If you don’t have an Apple MobileMe account, then you may want to try Undercover by Orbicule, which is available as an app for only $4.99. This app works a little bit differently. It requires that someone open a game, the undercover app, or click to open a link sent as a text message by Undercover. Fortunately, it can be disguised as a personal link to banking information or something else that would lure a thief into clicking the link. Once the link is clicked, you can immediately send the information to the local police showing the location within 150 feet of the phone.
Built in Security
Now a password won’t help you recover your phone, but it can make it incredibly annoying for a thief. Plus, setting a passcode on your iPhone 4 can help friends, children and others from randomly grabbing your phone just to see what’s on it.
Ultimately it’s all about you. There are no cases, pieces of software or passcodes that can protect you from theft or protect you from every possible opportunity to break your iPhone 4. However, with a little bit of care and a little creativity, you can fashionably protect your iphone 4 and your investment.
