My phone is freezing, running slow, repair did not work, spazzing out! What can I do?
Performing a soft reset can resolve issues like continuous resetting/rebooting, crashing, freezing, can’t make or receive calls, and other general software related problems. This process is similar to rebooting a computer after it freezes up. Phones are small computers after all.
Soft Reset – This should not erase your data, but it is always a good idea to do a backup. With your device turned on…
- Press and hold Power Button (around 15 seconds)
- Select: Power Off and Restart
- Select: OK
- Your device will now shut down and reboot
Alternate Method; with your device turned on…
- Pull out the battery
- Wait 60 Seconds
- Reinsert the battery, and power on your device
I did a soft reset, but my phone is still not working correctly. What can I do?
A hard reset can resolve issue like: blank or frozen screen, crashing apps, touch screen problems, no audio, random noises, no call functionality or sync errors.
Hard Reset – **This process will erase all your data**, and erase any accounts linked to your device as well.
- Turn your device off.
- Press and hold Volume Down Button and Power/Lock Button.
- Release the keys when the FACTORY HARD RESET screen is displayed.
- Press the Power Button to continue.
- Press the Power Button once more to confirm.
- Your device will now restore. This process may take several minutes.

- If you have an all white or all black display, start by performing a soft reset on your device. Blank screens are usually a sign of internal software not wanting accept the new parts. A soft reset will clear your device of any temporary data that is blocking your new part from working. If your screen still will not work after a reset…
- Redo the repair from the beginning. At the step where you plug your screen into your main board, check your original screen to see if it still works. If neither screen works, this is a sign of something worse then a bad screen. We suggest mailing in your device for testing. If you see…
- Blotches on your display, this is a sign of too much pressure on the screen caused in shipping or during installation. Open your device again, and make certain there is no residual glass from your original broken screen. If you see…
- Lines down your display, or you have only a partially working touch function, then you may have a defective or broken screen.

- If your digitizer will not respond to touch at all, reattempt the repair, and make certain your cable was not crimped (folded too much). Crimping causes micro fractures in the thin metal inside a flex cable. Once this metal is cracked, power and other impulses cannot flow through the device.
- Also check that all your cables are fully seated and plugged in. Flex cables that need to slide into position can easily come loose during reassembly.
- If only a select grid of icons will not work such as the top third, or left side, you may have a cable that is miss aligned. Open your device, and make certain all the connectors on the flex cable match up. If this plug is off center, you will see problems such as this called “blocking”. Blocking can also happen if either your digitizer cable, or your motherboard plug have missing or bent pins. These pins will need to be put back in place before your device will work again.
- If after both steps your digitizer still does not work, you may have a defective or broken part.

My Lucid 2's data connection will not work on Youtube, but it will with WiFi. When off wireless, it results in an error saying "unable to play" or "lost connection".
Thanks Johnny,
Many devices have two antennas; one for Wi-Fi and one for the 3G services. It is likely that the 3G/4G antenna is malfunctioning or no longer connecting properly.
Two possibilities exist:
1) The antenna itself is connected, but malfunctioning.
2) The antenna has become disconnected from its motherboard connection.
If your 3G functions in other apps and locations, this may be an error with the Youtube app itself. In this case, I would advise removing and re-downloading the app.
My home screen will not let me delete or move items from differernt screens. I have a Lg Lucid VS 840. Please help im overwhelmed with apps on my screens i dont use!
Thank you!
Thanks Michelle,
Back up your data and the restore your device back to factory default settings. Once the restore is done, you will have a clean phone, and you can freely install and move your apps around.
Overtime, devices get bogged down by apps, and odd quirks show up such as not being able to move apps to other screens.
I have an LG-VS840, and the power button doesn't work anymore. I have a replacement phone, but does anyone have any idea how I can get data like pictures off of the old device? Is there a way to get around (even temporarily) the power button and power the old phone up long enough to download the data to a PC?
Thanks Dave,
You should be able to plug your device straight into a computer, and let it boot that way. If your device will not boot through a USB cable, then you have a bad battery in addition to a bad power button, and there is not a way to get the information off.
Once booted, you should be able to backup your info to either the computer directly or to an SD card.
I have a LG Lucid 2 and it continually powers off if you put the screen to sleep unless you have music playing. It also will not connect with data or receive/send calls or texts. The only thing it will do is things that can operate with wifi. Any way you could help would be great!
Thanks!
Thanks Trace,
There are several problems here:
1.) Sounds like your power button may be sticking. This would explain why simply putting the screen to sleep is just turning off the phone. Background apps will block this (like music), so a new power button is in order here.
2.) If your device is not picking up data, then contact your service provider first. Normally, this is related to network software updates, or bad SIM cards.
For that past week my phone (lg lucid v8s40) has been turning itself off and the only way i was able to turn the phone back on was by plugging it into my charger. Now my phone wont turn on even with the charger, it just blinks on and off as if my phone was dead but it was at 98% when it turned off. Is there anyway i can fix this? If so , what can i do?
My LG Lucids screen won't rotate automatically anymore. Sometimes upon resetting my phone it fixes itself for a while but then goes to not rotating anymore. I've done a soft reset, taken out the battery and done a simple shut off and turn back on. Trying to calibrate the auto rotate also gives me an error message and tells me to try again. The screen rotates if I use the widescreen option on Youtube so I know it can still do it.
Please help me out!
Hi Daniel!
It sound to me like you might want to back up your device and then factory reset it. Then see if the issue is gone before reinstalling your back up. If the issue is gone then reinstall your back up if the problem comes back then there is an issue with one of your apps. If you would like a trained professional to look at your device we offer a mail in repair at phonedoctors.com under the service tab.
My LG Lucid 2 does not send and receive some messages. It doesn't matter if they are MMS or standard. There is no time if day it happens regularly. I just can't figure out what is wrong with it. I have tried a soft reset but a hard reset makes me nervous.
Hi Beth!
There is no need to be nervous just connect your device to a computer and back it up first you can do a reset and put your info back on your device. If you would like us to do it we offer mail in repairs at this link ( ).

This is an issue that will have to be locked at by a Technician. There will need to be some diagnostics run on the device to determine the problem. We offer a mail in repair service if you don't have a repair shop near you just click this link
hello, on my lucid 2, when im try to turn on No lock screen, touch and hold, swipe, or face lock it says disabled by administrator, encrypted policy, or credential storage. How am i supposed to get it to work again. Thanks
Hi John
Well the first thing I would have to ask is do you have a vpn set up if you do then you will need those passwords. Second Go to Settings>Security>Device Administrators>uncheck pattern lock, then try again!
No i dont have any vpns set up and i tried that but it didnt work. Is there anything else i could do?
Thanks
I have the lucid 840 and I am able to use 4g data and send and receive text messages but whenever I try to make a call it says emergency calls only.
Hi Angela
This is a provisioning issue from the provider. Either the SIM card is set fr data only or your phone needs to be reprogrammed by the carrier.
My LG VS-870 crashed while I was viewing text messages. Now, it won't power on or respond in any way. What's next?
Hi Mike
Have you tried to connect it to the computer to see if the computer sees the device. Also does the device make any noises?
My computer doesn't "see" the USB device. It makes no noise --- completely dead. I've tried the known good battery from my wife's identical phone, and nothing. I've tried a factory reset using both buttons, and again, nothing.
Hi Mike
I would need to see the device to determine what the issue is. We offer a mail in repair at this link
I guess you folks aren't interested in proceeding further on this matter.
Hi Mike
I do apologize I just found your post. Well given the info that you have provided I would have to see the device to trouble shoot any further. We offer a mail in repair at PHONEDOCTORS.com. When a device has symptoms like you are describing a diagnostics will need to be run on the device meaning new parts tested on the device to best determine the cause.
Thank you. I'll look into the repair process.
My stepdaughter's LG lucid 3 is taking a long time to send text messages. She says the wifi is not working anymore either. Can you help?
Hi Laurie
Well as far as the messages taking a long time I would look at what apps are running in the back ground this can slow all f the processes down on her device. As far as the wifi i would try what is called a soft reset of the device. If that does not work then the next step is to reset the device back to factory. If that does not work then you will need to have the device looked at by a technician. We offer mail in repairs at this link
How can i fix my phone passwords if there locked and can't touch them and need to change my password and there locked
Hi Jazilyn
I will need more information than what you have provided. From what yu have communicated it sounds like your screen is bad and if that is the case then you will not be able to change the passwords until you change the screen.
My phone won't send any messages. And when I try to call someone it redirects me to verizon. I can get messages. But I can't send any
Hi Andrew
This is normally a carrier issue. Have you put your sim card in another device and then back into your device?
My Android Lucid won't come on. It stops at the 4G LTE logo, get stuck, then turns off again. This process goes on a loop if I allow it to. What do I do? Thank you.
Hi Rosa
I have provided a link to try to help you resolve your issue. http://androidforums.com/4707401-post68.html
My phone won't turn on fully. It stays at the verizon logo when I turn it on and it goes in a loop the whole time. What can I do?
Hi Alex
I would try a factory reset this might help get past the boot loop.
I have a LG VS870. My phone will not stay on any function but vibrate. Not even silent. I played music to see if it's the volume controls, but they, as well as the power button, are functioning fine. I'm not sure if this has affected the silent mode i have scheduled later today. Any help? Thank you!
Along with this, it will also spontaneously vibrate in sets of two, similar to a battery low notification
Hi Katherine
I would do a factory reset on the device.
Hi Katherine
This is a very interesting issue. It sounds like the software has an issue with it. Have you done a Hard reset on the device yet?
My lg lucid 2 keeps shutting off and restarting when trying to make a call. I have done a hard reset and it didn't fix the issue. The battery dies get very warm.
Hi Diana
The only thing that I can think of is the battery needs to be replaced we offer this as a mail in repair at PHONEDOCTORS.com
I have the LG Lucid and the battery doesnt last very long plus the phone overheats at times. I took it to local Verizon. They relaced the SD card, said it was causing phone to overheat. It still does it! I am an older user so lots of stuff doesnt make sence so your answer needs to be easy to understand lol
Hi E.L. Green
Well first thing is the sim card has nothing to do with the device over heating as you have noticed. The first thing that I would check is the battery. If the battery is getting week this can cause it to get hot and drain very quick because of the demand the device has from the battery. We offer replacement batteries at PHONEDOCTORS.com. We also offer mail in repair if you would rather a certified technician work on your device.
My LG Lucid is low on memory, total storage in the Misc is 3.83 GB. This is list in Misc.....
Yahoo 5.19Mb; zedge 2.50MB; App center 1.88Kb; memo 68.00KB; VVM3 36.00KB; VZ Media 20.00 Kb; Com facebook. Orca 20.00 Kb; Lazylist 8.00Kb; mmsyscache 8.00 Kb @nd Gallery 23.75 Mb
I have no clue if any of these can or needs deleated.
Please answer my last question on how to get more memory. I am in my 70's so i have a difficult time in understanding so please keep that in mind. Lol
My Lucid2 will charge fully, shows charging on the screen, and goes easily to the Verizon loading screen when turned on - then hangs and hangs and hangs. Previously, it began taking forever to get off the Verizon screen, but restarting it helped. I did all the updates I could in case that was the problem, and it was okay for a day or two, and now... nothing. It's just a giant advertisement for Verizon! Anything I can try?
Hi Melissa
I would recommend getting your device t a repair shop to have it diagnosed if you do not have one local then we offer a mail in repair at PHONEDOCTORS.com
What's up, after reading this amazing article i am as well happy to share my experience here with
mates.
Hi Mains
Thank you we appreciate any input.
When using the phone, I can hear the person I'm talking to, but they cannot hear me.
I have done a soft reset with no luck. Any ideas?
Hi Vicki
Your mic that is located at the bottom of your device is either bad or clogged. We offer this repair as a mail in repair at PHONEDOCTORS.com.
My media volume wont work on my LG Lucid 2, all other sounds work, just cant hear anything when watching videos or listening to Pandora
Hi Brandan
Well first I would like to ask can you hear other sounds like ring tone or speaker phone? If no then you will need to have your loud speaker replaced. We offer this repair as a mail in repair at PHONEDOCTORS.com
I have a lucid 3 and i was wondering why when my boyfriend txt me i receive his txt but when i try to send him a txt he doesn't get it. I was wondering what could i do
Hi Sabrina
I would have him check and make sure that he did not accidentally block your number.
My husband and I recently changed carriers from Metro to T-Mobile. My husband kept his Lucid2 and number, has a new SIM card with T-Mobile, unlocked his phone, and everything was working fine for over a week until this morning. He lost signal strength and restarted his phone. Instead of the startup screen showing T-Mobile it was now showing MetroPCS. On top of that it had deleted Instagram from his phone. He restarted it again, Instagram was back, but the carrier was still showing as Metro. How is this possible with a T-Mobile SIM unless there's something wrong with the phone itself?
Hi Heather
Was the device factory reset prior to the unlock? If not then you will have to factory reset the device and then try the unlock again.
I own a model VS876 and it has put me in a very frustration scenario. A few days ago it turned off to restart itself, as normal. But after coming to the red screen at which it displays the Verizon logo for several seconds(as normal) the screen goes black, then repeats the red screen again. Over and over and over until the battery runs out or is taken out and even replaced. If you have any solutions or suggestions, that would be very helpful.
Hello Michael and thank you for your question,
From what you are describing this device sounds like it is stuck in a boot loop. I would recommend attempting a "Hard Reset" or a "Factory Reset" on this device. If you are unsuccessful in attempting the "Hard Reset" you might find success by plugging this device into a Computer and attempting to restore the "Stock ROM" on this device. It sounds like this device is having an issue with the software installed and the best resolution would be to setup the software new.
If the software resets don't resolve your issue there is a chance you have a dying battery. I've seen phones get stuck in a boot loop because the battery doesn't hold enough of a charge to allow the phone to power on. You might seek a battery replacement and see if that resolves the issues.
I hope these suggestions have been helpful,
Matthew Jones.
Recently, My LG Lucid 2 has been constantly restarting. I'm not sure why. There wasn't a problem with the sim card or the battery. Any ideas?
Hello Serena, thanks for your question.
From what you are describing it sounds like the device is stuck in a boot loop. There are a lot of different causes for a device to get stuck in a boot loop.
One common issue is batteries. If the battery on the device no longer holds enough voltage to power the device, it may result in the device trying to turn on over and over. Another possible cause for the boot looping is if somehow the software on the phone got corrupted. If this is the case, simply restoring the phone to the factory default state should resolve this issue. (You may need to research a "Stock Rom Restore")
At the absolute least, I've done some research on this device. It appears you can get a brand new LG Lucid 2 for right around $40 on eBay. With the cost of the device being around $40, it might be more beneficial to seek a full device replacement as opposed to repairing the device.
Thanks,
Matthew Jones.
I did a factory reset on my LG Lucid 2 and now it will not power on. It cycles through the Verizon power on screen and will do nothing else. Thanks for any advice
Hello, Jose I'm sorry to hear about the boot loop your experiencing. There are a few steps to be taken to try and get the device functioning. First I recommend tiring to factory reset the phone a 2nd time. From time to time, a reset on androids can and will go sour. Normally this is caused by a massive cahche file not being deleted on the first reset. When in factory i always recommend running the commands twice, this can and will help commit the changes. Make sure after the reset to wipe the chache 2x same as the reset. If the device is still stuck in the boot loop I would consider a stock ROM flashing via a computer to remedy the issue. I have attached a link : Lucid 2 reset
Thanks
Robin B.
Hello I recently purchased a LG Lucid from a friend of mine she factory reset it and now it just pop turns on but post no SIM card message I called Verizon Wireless customer service but they told me that I need the previous SIM card number to go any further... Do i need a sim card?If so wer Can I get a SIM card to activate my phone into a prepaid account or is there anyway I can get around this popup if you can please help me I'd greatly appreciate it thank you
Hello Rae, I'm sorry to hear about your activation issues. I would strongly recommend that you obtain the original sim card for this device. If you are unable to obtain such a thing. I would then head in to a local Verizon store and getting another sim card. Then calling 611 from the current prepaid phone to call and activate the the LG Lucid.
Best wishes
Robin B.
My lucid 3 goes to a black screen whenever I turn the thing on and it just stays that way. It only just started a few days ago. I hate that this is happening. There's this black screen and the power button light swiched from green to blue contenuisly. I've tried soft resetting, but it won't help me out.
Hello Draven,
Sorry to hear about that screen issue you are having. From the issue you are describing it sounds like your LCD is going out. Given the mofdel of the phone cost effectively is a until to replace. That being said if you wanted the data from this device when you get the replacement phone you can swap motherboards and keep you information.
Hope it helps
Robin B.
when i watch videos on my LG lucid 3 in my gallery the brightness goes to 0 and I can barley see it. Please help!!
Hello Isabella,
We are sorry to hear about the LG Lucid 3 issue you are having. From the issue you are describing it sounds like your software may be conflicting with video playback. In some media players there is a glitch that may enable the proximity sensor. This causes the auto brightness to turn the back light all the way down. My recommendation is to contact LG to see if they can possibly reset or replace the device under warranty.
I hope my suggestions have been helpful.
Thanks,
Robin B.
I have the lucid iii and the other day the volume during cAlls began to get louder by itself and I would lower it and then it would rise again and I keep doing this but it won't stop. Is there a solution to this problem?
Hello Samantha,
Sorry to hear about that LG Lucid issue you are having. From the problem you are describing it sounds be that the device has adaptive audio on.
To fix this I recommend that you go into the settings of the device and either under the phone settings, or the sound settings the device to turn of adaptive sound. If turn this off and you phone calls are still getting louder then I recommend doing a factory data rest on that device.
Hope it helps
Robin B.
I reset my phone now my wi fi is not working.
Hello Donna,
Sorry to hear about that LG lucid issue you are having. From the above issue you are describing it sounds to be that when you reset your phone the device had a bad parameter pushed to the device. To remedy this issue I would recommend resetting the phone a 2nd time. If the issue is persistent then I recommend that you contact LG Customer support.
Thank you
Robin B.
I can't seem to get in to my phone i'm typing it right but it just wont let me in
Hello Sarah and thanks for your comment.
I'm not 100% sure what issue you are describing but, it sounds like you may be locked out of your phone and unable to enter the passcode on the lock screen properly. If you are able to, I would recommend restoring the device to default settings. This will erase the device completely but, it will also reset the passcode allowing you to use the device.
I hope my comments have been helpful.
Thank you,
Matthew Jones.
I have a lucid vs840 with Straight talk service and I'm getting a message that says "No wi-fi networks dectected [sic]". Every now and then a network will show up that is secure, but that is all. My (now broken beyond repair) vs870 had no problem getting connected and in the past had no trouble getting connected with the VS840. Can anyone here help with this?
Thanks,
Sallie
Hello Sallie and thank you for your comment.
I personally have very limited patience when it comes to Wireless technologies. My least favorite of the popular ones out now is Bluetooth. You may then not find it surprising to know that the same chip that does the Bluetooth is also responsible for the Wi-Fi connectivity. So one way that I like to test is to see if your device can discover any Bluetooth devices trying to pair them. If you can not discover any devices, it could indicate that the whole chip is not connected to its antennas. Usually phones run the connection to the antennas down to the "Charge Port Flex" and this part is replaceable on those devices. From my research into the VS840 indicates that it does not utilize this type of antenna.
If this were my device, I would take it to a local cellphone repair provider and have them at least diagnose the issue and assess the repairability of the WiFi antenna on this device.
I hope my comments have pointed you in the right direction.

I have a Lg Lucid VS840 (Verizon) and i bought it from a private dealer off the Swappa.com site ..I can't get it to activate ..with Verizon it showed on their end that the phone was active..i couldn't get passed the activation screen till i figured out how to bypass that...so then i decided to try and get it activated on the PagePlus network w/a different sim card and still nothing..they sent me several numbers that i could dial for over the air activity..and nothing..at the top my roaming icon is always present...my wifi works but i can't call out ..it just keeps directing me to Verizon customer service..any suggestions before i break down and send back for refund...
Hello and thank you for the question.
Unfortunately when it comes to activation the only authority there is the carrier. If you're having an issue with activating the device, aside from returning the device to its original factory conditions, there isn't much you can do to force activation. I would attempt to restore this device to its default settings and attempt activation again.
I hope my comment proves to be helpful.

My lucid 2 was running slow so I did a soft reset. But then it was still running so, so I did a hard factory reset. Now the phone wont power on. It loads the white Verizon screen then goes black and keeps repeating the cycle until either the battery dies or I take it out.
Hello Megan and thank you for the question.
I just spoke to my technician about this issue and he suspects you're having an issue which could be resolved by wiping the "Cache" which is something I'm not 100% familiar with but, I've heard the terms before. I would recommend you perform a google search or even look on YouTube for an instructional video on how to "Wipe the cache on an LG Lucid 2". There is certainly a guide of someone showing you step by step instructions on how to perform this reset.
If you are unable to find success there, you may look into "Flashing" the phone back to its "Stock ROM". This is a very technical topic and if you were not comfortable performing this software repair, I would take it to a service provider and ask them to complete the restore.
I hope my comments prove to be helpful.

I have a LG Lucid 2, every time I make a phone call I can hardly hear it at all. The sound works great except when making phone calls. Do you know what has happened, or what I could do to fix the issue?
Hello Brittani and thank you for the question.
From the issue you have described it sounds like you may be having issues with the "Ear Speaker" or the "Receiver" as they were called on old telephones. Can I ask, does the volume of a phone call always perform much lower than all other sounds? Does a call that is put onto speakerphone work as expected or also suffer from the reduced volume?
If you find that the issue only exists with the speaker located at the top of the phone, the one you place near your ear, then that speaker might need to be replaced. If you notice that the sound issue persists through both speakers and that it is specifically with calling, then you might have a network based issue causing the problem. (It is more likely to be the Ear Speaker than a network issue, as network issues tend to come and go.) Another option you can test out is by plugging in headphones. If you notice that the call quality is working fine through the headphones then it is just one more piece of evidence against the Ear Speaker.
I hope my comments have been helpful.

I have a problem where a personal image keeps on popping up. Is there a way to change the image. It’s not my background. It only pops up when I use task manager to close all apps. It’s really personal information so I don’t understand why it keeps popping up on my screen when closing the apps on my phone through task manager. Please help. I’ve turned the phone off and on and still it appears there as the background for task manager
