It sounds like the antenna wasn’t plugged in correctly or the antenna may have been ripped. You may want to try our national mail in repair service or you can try calling 1-855-234-9483.

I have an iPhone 4 and just replaced; LCD/digitizer, proximity sensor, audio jack ribbon, ear speaker, antenna/metal tabs on speaker and new battery. After complete reassembly, everything worked perfect except proximity sensor. Disassembled again to put small glass with gasket on proximity sensor and when reassembled, the speakerphone doesn’t work. Voice record, music and you tube video works perfect, but when on a call and I hit speakerphone, I can’t hear and can’t be heard. I also have no sound when trying to record a video. Any ideas? The small gold tab broke off EMI/antenna stick on that attaches to the speaker, but I am pretty sure this has more to do with signal than anything. Any help is welcomed!!

Not a normal issue. The camera could be unplugged but it’s tough to say. I would mail it in to us and we can test camera issue before replacing the LCD screen. Please visit: http://phonedoctors.com/mail/

I replaced my iphone 4s screen and digitizer. It had went out the other night after dropping the phone. I could still hear the phone ring and text messages being received…just nothing on the screen. After replacing, my phone now only comes on when i have it plugged in w/ the charger. It says the battery is 100%.. It also is continually searching for service and will never find service. Unable to connect to wifi as when i go to the setting it says wifi is off and won’t let me turn it back on. Once i unplug from the charger my phone shuts off and nothing will work until i plug it back in.. Seems like it’s more than just a bad battery.. I checked the antenna and looks to be in good shape and is plugged in fully. Any ideas on the problem?

I replaced the charging port and now it only charges when it’s off and slowly too. It can’t connect to the pc because it isn’t a recognised on the windows pc anymore too so it also doesn’t connect to iTunes. I tried holding the power and home button till it goes off and goes back on again with the USB to ITunes logo. That still doesn’t work…. What can I do?

    • Tony - VP of Marketing January 29, 2013 at 2:29 pm #

Hi Phoung. It could be a variety of issues. The only thing I can recommend is to send it in and have one of our technicians look at it: http://phonedoctors.com/mail/

    • Harrison Sealey April 12, 2013 at 4:50 am #

Tell me if this issue was resolved as I have the exact same issue! Email me

      • doctor dan April 12, 2013 at 10:20 am #

        Thanks Harrison,

        There are three possibilities here:
1.) The cable you are using to charge the device has gone bad.
You can trouble shoot this by testing your cable on different phones, and if it has the same issue, then we know it is the cable.

2.) The charge port may be defective, not plugged in properly, or was damaged during installation.
Start by breaking your phone down again, and double check that your charge port has a solid connection. Also check for any signs of damage such as scrape marks, crimped cables, or broken “teeth” of the interior of the charge port. Reassemble your device, and if the same issue persists, then…

3.) The battery may be loose, damaged, or defective.
Unplug your battery, and check that your battery terminal (the part where your battery plugs into the motherboard) has all four copper prongs and is free of any debris. If all looks intact, and your battery has no signs of damage; reassemble your phone and test everything again.

At this stage, if you still have the same problem, then it is likely you have a bad charge port, and can resolve the problem with a new one. It also would not hurt to change the battery at the same time just to make certain all possible issues are solved.

I replaced the front assembly (LCD, digitizer, etc) on my mother’s iPhone 4S. While it was broken she used another phone that she had, which required a different sim card due to the size. Everything went together perfectly fine and everything I tested seemed to be working fine (without service). She went to get a new sim card for the iPhone and now she can send and receive text messages, but not phone calls. Nothing happens at all when you try to call her. I’m not sure if this is an issue with the provider having to disable/enable various sims or if it’s an issue with the phone so I thought I’d ask for some possible insight. It seems to me that if it were an issue with the antenna (or something else in the receiving hardware) she wouldn’t receive text messages either.

    Thanks in advance!

Nevermind. I fixed it. Thanks though!

    Hi there,

I just replaced the light proximity cable on my iphone 4 and everything seemed fine until i noticed that the touch screen doesn’t turn off when I held it against my cheek during a phone call. I reseted all my settings but it didn’t do anything, any idea what went wrong?

    Thanks for your time

    • Tony - VP of Marketing February 14, 2013 at 2:55 pm #

Yes, the proximity is what causes the effect that you’re talking about. So something may have gone wrong with the repair. Please call 1-855-234-9483 and give your order number so that you can speak to a technician. You can also email your question and ask for a technician response by sending an email to support@phonedoctors.com

  11. Nick February 18, 2013 at 12:45 pm #

Would it be the same buying a colored screen for an iphone 4s as replacing/repairing an lcd screen, or would i need to buy both?

    • Tony - VP of Marketing February 18, 2013 at 12:57 pm #

Great Question! When you buy a color screen from Phone Doctors, it includes both the LCD and Digitizer.

  12. Nick February 18, 2013 at 1:15 pm #

Also, is it possible to buy parts, such as a color screen, and send in the iPhone to have you guys change the parts or does the customer have to do it? If so, would it cost extra to send it in? How much?

    • Tony - VP of Marketing February 18, 2013 at 1:21 pm #

We can offer you the parts and provide the repair and/or installation. Due to our high quality control and standards, we only warranty repairs by our technicians when we provide the parts. Please call 1-855-234-9483 and we will be glad to help you.

I replaced the screen and charge port cable after ripping the original replacing the screen. Now the wifi doesn’t work unless I am right next to the router. Also it charges fine but if I dock it on a speaker dock it doesn’t output through it. I took it back apart and checked all the connections on the speaker module, the piece on the battery connection and the piece by the top shield and all seem fine. Is there something I am missing or how much would something like this cost to get fixed?

    • Tony - VP of Marketing March 19, 2013 at 11:12 am #

got my screen replaced on iPhone 4s a week ago and some of my calls are not coming thru…i only know due to the person leaving voice mail. Also my pandora will play a few songs and then it takes a few minutes for another song to start. Have you heard of these issues? Thanks!!

    • doctor dan March 21, 2013 at 9:28 am #

Due to the inconsistency of these errors, our technicians suggest taking your phone to your service provider, and see if there may be some type of network issue causing the lack of consistency with your reception.
Should this not solve it, then there are multiple internal items which may be causing this issue. After talking to your service provider, we suggest sending in your device for diagnostic testing by our technicians.

    Hi,

I replaced my 4s screen, and my wifi is receptions is weak now. What are the parts to look into, as i see emi shield for 4 and 4s are different.
    Thanks for your input.

    • doctor dan April 5, 2013 at 9:30 am #

      Thanks,

      Two possibilities here:
1.) There is some type of a network issue, and you should contact your service provider first to see if something may need to be reset on their end.
2.) Your antenna (located on the bottom of your device above the ringer speaker box) is either damaged or unplugged. Simply open your device, and double check your antenna to make certain it is plugged in correctly. If this cable is either nicked or torn, then you need a new one.You can find this part available here:

    After replacing the lcd/digitizer and glass on my iphone 4 Im having the following problems;
    - calls are dropped randomly
    - the headphone jack isn’t working
    - the front facing camera isn’t working (not super important)
What can I do? I know that things can be as simple as screws in the wrong spot…

    • doctor dan April 23, 2013 at 2:38 pm #

      Thanks Amanda,

There are a couple of connections to check:

1.) Your antenna located on the bottom of your device, found directly above the oblong shaped box above your charge port. Make certain this antenna is fully plugged in. This should help your call drops.
2.) Your headphone jack flex found at the top of your device. There is one tiny plug in found above your battery, next to the spot your LCD plugged in. Make certain this is connected.
3.) Your front camera is the most tricky as it is located under your LCD screen. You will need to deconstruct your phone (don’t crimp or tear the flex cables) in order to check this part.

You can also mail-in your device to us, and let our technicians take a look at:

On my iphone 4 with phone face up the far left prong in the charge port is broke off how serious is this and what issues could this cause this phone is brand new

    • doctor dan April 26, 2013 at 9:40 am #

      Thanks Johnny,

The important part of the charge port is the central “tooth” (the long middle piece). If this part is damaged in any way, then you need a new charge port. Our technicians can fix this part for 45.00+shipping if you are not near one of our locations. No shipping if you walk the device in.

If the prong you are talking about is one of the metal hooks at the very edge, then your charge port should be fine. This prong locks your charging cable into place. As long as you plug in your charge port securely, your phone will charge as normal.
